Children's Theater wig assistant Mary Capers applied temporary tattoos on to the forearms of actor Dwight Leslie in preparation for his role in "Last Stop on Market Street." ] GLEN STUBBE • glen.stubbe@startribune.com Tuesday, October 2, 2018
Tattoos are popping up more in real life and on stage, including current Guthrie and CTC productions. How do you get them on? How do you get them off (especially if you don't really want to go for coffee with a swastika on your body, which happened with MN Opera's "Dead Man Walking")? Actor Dwight Leslie will be having temporary tattoos applied for his role in "Last Stop on Market Street," which has a show for schoolchildren that morning. The process involves using a transfer sheet, much like the temporary tattoos anyone can buy, and then touching up with brushes to make the colors more vivid. He'll be assisted by some combo of wig and costume people, including Martha Capers, Robert Dunn and Amy Kitzhaber (I interviewed Kitzhaber for the story).
